January Favourites

1. Maybelline New York Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Balm - I heard really good things about this stuff so I decided to bite the bullet and try it. The major selling point is that it has spf 20 and it is so hard to find lip balm (for reasons beyond me) that have spf in it. What else can I say... it keeps my lips from being dry and my lips seem to be very picky with what kind of lip balm gets put on it!

2. Vaseline - Vaseline isn't just my January favourite, it is my all time favourite. I have been using this stuff for years, basically when I'm at home it replaces the regular lip balm. It is just amazing. If you have never thought of using it on your lips you need to try it!

3. Nicole by O.P.I Kardashian Kolor Nail Polish, It's All About the Glam - I was unsure of Nicole by O.P.I. because I thought, "This stuff is cheap so it must be cheap." I saw the color on Pinterest and decided to try it. I was pleasantly surprised. It lasted longer than Essie (which I am not a fan of) and although it didn't go on nice the first coat, I just did a couple more and it looked awesome. Really nice holiday color, it has a hint of sparkle in it. I think it is one of my favourite colors in my collection now.

4. Aveeno Active Naturals Skin Relief Body Wash - Last summer I underwent some testing to see why my joints are always bothering me.... completely unrelated to my joints, I found out that I am allergic to soap. Everything in my life was explained. I always thought that my legs were really dry from shaving and that my skin was just dry and that is why it burned when I got out of the shower. Wrong. I just needed something that wasn't soap! This stuff is made with oatmeal and shea butter so it is perfect if you have a sensitivity to soap. My skin never burns anymore when I get out of the shower. I just love it.

So there you go. I plan to make this a regular thing every month :)
Hopefully I come across enough products to share with you every month

Schoolio is donezo..... almost

Well... done classes. I still have a 20 day internship to do after it but I will be done classes.. forever!
How exciting is that? It is definitely going by fast and I still have to land my internship. There is so much to do between now and then it is hard to wrap my head around the fact that it will all be done in less than 3 months!

One thing I'm excited about is finally having time to be able to commit to an animal shelter to volunteer there. I've always wanted to be able to do that but never been able to commit the hours they wanted. It's a little hectic going to school full time and working at a station full time lol

In terms of stuff going on around the abode... there won't be much on that around here because we have decided to not add anything to our inventory to make moving across country easier.

In terms of our wedding.....

Also: 488 days.

Still a ways but in other ways it seems so close. Probably because the last year flew by in the blink of an eye. If you think about it this way.....

When I started this blog it was 804 days!

And the last time I did one of these...

What has been booked: My dress

... was 240 days ago lol which is almost 8 months. Sorry about that

Here is the updated version :)

Happy Anniversary!

Today is mine and Brandyn's 3rd Anniversary :)
We celebrated by going to this really yummy Portuguese Restaurant :)

I ordered Portuguese Sardines. I know it may look gross but it is actually really yummy!

It's funny, I'm kind of sad that when we get married we have to start back at "year 1"... I can't wait to hit a real milestone like 5 years, 10 years, etc.... Maybe I'll just say both ;)

Here are a couple pictures from our first year of dating

Also, you may or may not have noticed but I added a Pinterest Widget! Fun right?
I'm hoping in the near future to add a nice blog template that I am probably going to buy off Etsy. I made this one and while it is all fine and dandy, I'm no graphic designer and I want to make things as visually appealing for you as possible!

Kitty Witty

Kitty Witty is my nickname for her. Her original name was never actually Kitty but I will share on that later....

Kitty was born sometime in September 2009 (Brandyn thinks) and she is a purebred Burmese.. We found this out after we fixed her. Lame sauce haha.

But anyway... Brandyn was living with  his friends Grandma renting out a room from her and I guess someone she knew had some kittens so she took one home. Apparently Kitty took to Brandyn and kind of just became his cat. About 3 months later, Brandyn and I became an item.

Kitty's original name was Kitty Catter Magader (did I even spell that right?) I don't even know but Brandyn and his friend named him.... This is how the conversation went when I first met Kitty...

"Ohh whats her name?"
"Kitty Catter Magader"
"Excuse me?"
"Kitty Catter Magader"

... I literally didn't even understand what her name was because they said it so fast. After I had figured it out I scolded Brandyn for giving a cat three names and then took it upon myself to call her Kitty. Kitty has had 3 different names total I think.... One of Brandyn's roommates decided to call her Peaches once as well  but Kitty seemed to stick.... :)

Kitty is your typical female cat. She only comes on her terms .... she doesn't like to be held or anything...and she refuses to respond to you.

Other times she is a very interesting cat. For example.... she doesn't like to touch the sand (or maybe doesn't know how) in her litter box so instead of covering up her business... she scratches at the side of the litter box which can be REALLY annoying. She also likes to pee in the bathtub... which is also really annoying and stinky. In this apartment we have glass shower doors. It keeps her out. She also seems to be quite lazy with her meow. It'll kind of just be a squawk. But she can do some funny things too....

And this is a snapshot Brandyn got once. This is a usual occurance. Little 7 lb Kitty sleeping on the pillow above mine and my 17 lb giant Gizmo taking up my side of the bed.

If I could... I would have more cats! Because I love animals :)

Introducing....

Gizmo!

It recently occured to me that I have never formally introduced my cats which is wierd because they are like my babies and if you have been to my photo challenge tab... they cover most of it! So here I introduce my cat Gizmo! (Prepare for some serious awes)

Here's the story of how Gizmo came to be mine... In 2008 my cat died and my Mom was taking a break from owning a pet. I don't understand how people replace their pets right away but maybe that is how they cope. In 2010, someone we knew's cat was pregnant so I convinced my Mom to take one of the kittens. On June 28th, 2010, Gizmo and his brothers and sister were born. I was there for his birth which was gross needless to say haha and I hung out a lot. Two kittens were immediately ruled out because they were long haired (and one was a female and my Mom doesn't like female cats).

So there were 2 short hairs that were also boys... I started to notice Gizmo because he was so quirky. He had such personality at such a small age and you could say I picked him or he picked me but I knew we were going to take him when he was ready. The long haired kittens and Gizmo had homes and there was one left who didn't have a home and I felt bad. I also kind of wanted Gizmo for myself. So I convinced my Mom to take this one and Gizmo would be mine (I was 18 after all and would be moving out soon). We ended up bringing both cats home at 5 weeks because the people we got them from couldn't handle having the kittens around. They got into too much mischeif.

My Mom named her kitten Spencer. You may see a bigger version around my blog too. He was always twice the size of Gizmo but now they are very close in size.

When I moved out a year later, I took Gizmo with me. Spencer now has 2 other cats to play with - they are from the same Mom as well. My Mom was going to take one to be Spencer's companion and then caved and took 2!! Haha .. the things animals do to you... we are all such suckers
Anyway here are more pictures of Gizmo growing up :)

Gizmo is such a funny cat. He is so chatty. We often have conversations although they usually consist of "Meow"...."meow"... I think he just responds when he hears my voice. This cat plays fetch! I throw a ball and he runs, grabs it in his mouth and brings it back. Its phenominal. If I tell him to get down or no, he meows and then actually does so. Who ever thinks cats aren't trainable..didn't try hard enough!

Stay tuned for Kitty's introduction!
